Lucille Raines Residence
Last Thursday a small group of our UMW women went to Indianapolis, for a Talk-Tour-Lunch. Lucille Raines Residence, is owned and operated by the United Methodist Women of Indiana. At its capacity, the Residence houses 49 recovering drug and/or alcohol addicts, both men and women, who are striving to get their lives back on track. LRR offers a safe, clean and sober environment for residents given the opportunity to work on a "self help" program. LRR residents are employed. Each is expected to work a solid recovery program, a part of which is attending recovery meetings and working a 12-step program. Recovery is a spiritual journey whereby persons rebuild strengthen and expand their relationship with God.
This was a very informative trip. We came up with a couple of ideas that well be shared in near future to help and support LRR. Carolyn Marshall will be our speaker at this years December, Christmas Luncheon.
With school being out the food pantry is in need of the following items:
fruit cups, applesauce cups, pudding cups, small "snack pack" of cookies or crackers, and box/pouch drink in size 6 oz or 8 oz.
Youth Mission Trip
Saturday, June 28th, 27 high school students and leaders will be heading to Jeff, KY to help with the Appalachia Service Project.
Many of you have helped them out with the purchase of stock or being a prayer partner. Follow this link to our mission blog and keep up with their mission. http://valpofumcomissions.blogspot.com
