Lydia Circle's Annual Christmas potluck was held on the 17th at Judy Hain's home.  The 19 women in attendance brought food for the Christian Food Pantry, as well as new clothing items for the Tot Shop, which is a program offered by the Family and Youth Services Bureau.  The Tot Shop encourages responsible parenting by providing supplies for pregnant women and for families with infants and young children up to the age of 5.

After enjoying great conversation and an over abundance of delicious food, Cindy Felton presented the church's Fruitful Congregation program.  Cindy's presentation was informative, insightful and appreciated by all in attendance.

As if the party wasn't jam packed with enough activities, the evening wrapped up with the making of blankets for the Family and Youth Services Bureau's CASA program.  A CASA is a trained community volunteer, such as Judy Hain, who is appointed by Juvenile  Court to represent the "best interests" of children who have been abused or neglected.  This was truly a fun, festive and special evening for all who attended.

We had a wonderful time at our Christmas Luncheon last Saturday.
 Lorelei VerLee presentation was inspiring

# Giving Tuesday

Thanks to the generosity of United Methodists around the world,
more than 880 projects and missionaries were gifted.
This was the first year for UMC#GivingTuesday we generated a record
$6.5 million online
11,000 donors in
34 countries gave more than
16,300 gifts.
Global Ministries matched the first $500,000 received.
Building on the recent US shopping traditions of Black Friday,
Local Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, UMC#GivingTuesday
offered an opportunity to start the holiday season by giving instead of getting,
while supporting organizations that are transforming the world.

So here is my question for you do any of you have a problem with the way retailers are using the
12 days of Christmas?
Maybe we should clue these people in on the fact that the 12 days come after the 25th counting down to the Epiphany.  OK off my soap box.  Have a blessed week, slow down and prepare for the coming of the Christ Child.
