Lucille Raines Residence
Last Thursday a small group of our UMW women went to Indianapolis, for a Talk-Tour-Lunch.  Lucille Raines Residence, is owned and operated by the United Methodist Women of Indiana.  At its capacity, the Residence houses 49 recovering drug and/or alcohol addicts, both men and women, who are striving to get their lives back on track.  LRR offers a safe, clean and sober environment for residents given the opportunity to work on a "self help" program.  LRR residents are employed.  Each is expected to work a solid recovery program, a part of which is attending recovery meetings and working a 12-step program.  Recovery is a spiritual journey whereby persons rebuild strengthen and expand their relationship with God.
This was a very informative trip.  We came up with a couple of ideas that well be shared in near future to help and support LRR.  Carolyn Marshall will be our speaker at this years December, Christmas Luncheon.

With school being out the food pantry is in need of the following items:
fruit cups, applesauce cups, pudding cups, small "snack pack" of cookies or crackers, and box/pouch drink in size 6 oz or 8 oz.

Deadline for mission U is fast approaching, July 1st, if you are thinking about going please follow the link to sign up. http://www.inumc.org/pages/detail/1410

Gale Cengage Learning (2012)

Schroff was a successful ad sales representative in Manhattan. Maurice was a homeless 11-year-old panhandler. He asked for change; she kept walking. Then something stopped her, and she went back. She continued to go back again and again, forming a friendship that has spanned almost three decades and brought life to an over scheduled professional and hope to a desperate boy. 335 pp.

I know that this is a interesting book because all the copies are checked out of the UMW library.
This book is also available at the public library.
